Brittany Murphy was born to Sharon Murphy on November 10th, 1977 in Atlanta GA. (Her parents later divorced.) She grew up in the NY/NJ area but later moved to Burbank, CA. She graduated from John Burroughs High School. Brittany was doing regional theatre at the age of 9. She also performed a song in the play, Les Miserables, while attending Herbert Hoover Middle School in Edison, NJ. She also was in the musical Really Rosie and was quite smashing! As a preteen she hired a manager and began making commercials before moving to Hollywood in 1991. Once in Hollywood, Brittany landed a role on the TV sitcom Drexell's Class. She has recently starred in such films as David & Lisa, The Devil's Arithmetic, and Drop Dead Gorgeous, Girl, Interrupted, and the soon to be released, Cherry Falls, and Trixie. Currently you can hear Brittany as the voice of Luanne on FOX's animated sitcom King Of The Hill. Brittany was nominated for the Annie Award in 1997 for Best Individual Achievement: Voice Acting by a Female Performer in a TV Production, and this year, (1999), she was nominated for the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Movie/Pilot/Mini-Series or Series - (Leading Young Actress) for the TV movie David & Lisa. Brittany Murphy now lives in the Los Angeles, CA area with her mother Sharon. |
